Overview
Amber Webber & Stephen McBean from 'Black Mountain' - Twin Oscillations. Rooted in blues, psychedelia and acid rock, Black Mountain develops a universe where darkness, rawness and hallucinatory flights blend together, all traversed by a subtle folk current.
The group made its debut in October 2004 on the Jagjaguwar label with the EP Druganaut, before releasing its debut album a few months later.
It features Stephen McBean, Matthew Camirand, Jeremy Schmidt, Joshua Wells and Amber Webber, presented collectively to preserve the communal spirit that characterises the group.
This debut record received enthusiastic press coverage, to the point that Coldplay invited them to open one of its arena tours.
In January 2008, Black Mountain unveiled its second album, In the Future, asserting its taste for progressive and psychedelic explorations, notably the 17-minute epic Bright Lights.
Two years later came Wilderness Heart, which earned the group the prestigious Polaris Prize, one of the highest distinctions in Canadian music.
In 2012, Black Mountain composed the soundtrack to the film Year Zero, an ambitious documentary about surfing in a dystopian and post-apocalyptic universe.
The group continued its evolution with IV (2016), produced by Randall Dunn, known notably for his work with Sunn O))), then went on an international tour. In 2019, Black Mountain returned with its fifth album, Destroyer, driven notably by the single Future Shade.
