Carte blanche à Gautier Garrigue, Joy Loop quartet au 38Riv Jazz Club

Contemporary jazz — Gautier Garrigue, talented drummer and composer, surrounds himself with exceptional musicians to offer an evening of musical reunions and bold improvisations.

The 38Riv's blank canvases have become a reunion ritual for these four musicians, all leaders, composers and side-musicians within various ensembles.

They share this evening a repertoire visiting their respective universes, united by a connection to well-drawn melodies and to the unexpected that stage encounters generate. Gautier Garrigue is a drummer, guitarist and composer born in 1987 and from the south of France.

Graduated from the Conservatory in 2002, he quickly made a name for himself on the jazz scene by collaborating with prestigious artists such as Henri Texier, Michel Portal, Seamus Blake, Christian Scott, Emile Parisien, Baptiste Trotignon, Kyle Eastwood and Enrico Pieranunzi.

He is co-leader of the Flash Pig group, winner of the 2024 Album of the Year award from the Jazz Academy. His first album under his own name La Traversée, released in autumn 2024 received unanimous critical acclaim.

Described by Jazz Mag as one of the most sensitive and refined drummers on the current scene, he is a finalist in 2025 in the "Revelation of the Year" category of the Jazz Victories and wins the following year the famous Django Reinhardt Prize of the Jazz Academy which rewards the best musician of the year.
