Unfinished Business Records invites Racine Diabaté, Senegalese kora player, to Chapelle Saint-Lazare for a concert on Sunday 28 June at 5pm, to mark the release of his Kora Sessions project, now available on streaming platforms.
"The idea behind the project was to capture a sound from another country and culture—the kora's distinctive voice. And to transpose it into a hyper-urban environment like Paris. Here, everyone walks and speaks at their own pace, and some are swept away by that rhythm.
Many accept it; others prefer to play a melody that accompanies the world's dance—and that's what Racine does. "
