Rémy Desbonnet Saxophone. Louis Hognon Saxophone. Malo Lintanf Saxophone. André Tallon Saxophone. Concert around impressionist music and its legacy.
Debussy and Ravel, in using it in the Rhapsody for saxophone and in the Boléro, played a major role for the instrument and its recognition in classical music.
Two transcriptions created by the quartet will give a colorful and new perspective on two masterpieces by the two composers.
To these transcriptions will respond two original works for saxophone quartet very linked to impressionism: Pierné (great friend of Debussy) conducted several premieres of his works, and Bozza, who studied in Paris in the 1920s, was immersed in a musical world highly influenced by the impressionists.
Finally, the brilliant virtuoso Tango by Thierry Escaich—composer the quartet works alongside at CNSMDP—and Fireworks by Karol Beffa will end the journey with an opening to modern French music. Concert location: Archives nationales - Cour d'honneur.
