Some of the finest representatives of the Paris jazz scene come together for a quartet to celebrate the memory and work of a true colossus of jazz
A genius of improvisation and tireless explorer of new musical paths, Sonny Rollins remains one of the most influential tenor saxophonists in jazz history. In 1955, he joins Max Roach's quintet, a major formation that contributes to the emergence of hard bop.
From the following year, he devotes himself mainly to his own projects and publishes one of his masterpieces, Saxophone Colossus, which became an essential album in jazz history.
In 1957, he innovates again by recording several pieces in trio without piano, an audacious formula that will become one of his signatures.
