Concert Professeurs et jeunes artistes Académie Internationale de Musique

Female vocal duo born in 2022 from the meeting of two artists, Laurène Barnel and Carine Habauzit. Both trained at the School of Fine Arts, they create plural projects, drawing their inspirations from both the realm of performing and visual arts.

They harvest their songs from the oral traditions of the Mediterranean, exploring varied languages. They arrange, compose and rewrite with two voices and four hands music that brings women's voices to the forefront.

At the heart of their aspirations is the desire to reconnect with the conviviality of popular cultures and the wisdom of ancient civilizations.

Inspired by the thinking of ethnomusicologist Giovanna Marini who rehabilitates popular artistic practices as the foundation of social ties, they envision singing as a compass for people to relearn how to live and think together.

In fall 2022, they were winners of the residency for creation and cultural actions set up by EPTB Seine Great Lakes at the church of the Champaubert peninsula. Facing the lake, they create their first repertoire a cappella, Mooring.

In spring 2025, they record this collection for an album release planned for February 2026. The show can be performed as a trio with cellist Baptiste Dumangin and as a quartet with drummer Tom Couineau.

In 2025, they work on their 2nd creation, Fire of Life, a joyful and loving ode, a prayer, a hymn to the powerful incandescence of women.

Accompanied by the Cité de la Musique, La Maison du Chant and Labeaume en Musiques, this repertoire comes as an affirmation of their musical and artistic identity and an openness to other aesthetics: traditional music, jazz and current music.
