Virtuoso bassist-composer, Rémi Wassim Chabanel navigates at the crossroads of his jazz education, his Franco-Algerian origins, and the influences of electronic music.
He evokes a universe imbued with sky, desert, and the great Algerian South, making his bass sound like an oud or a Turkish saz. His seemingly simple music immediately plunges the listener into a soaring meditative journey.
His new project, titled "Mardi soir, le chat des sables," features a classical guitar, synthesizers, and traditional percussion alongside his electric bass, to take us to North Africa.
Live at La Péniche Marcounet, Rémi will invite Luazó to join him to continue the journey to South America: carried by Robin Gentien's guitar and compositions, Luazó is a nomadic Latin music project, between Paris and Buenos Aires, blending psychedelic cumbia, Sahelian guitar, and feverish tumbao.
