Conference: At the Crossroads of Perspectives: Photographic Competitions as a Tool for Territorial Development
This conference aims to examine photographic competitions as a recurring method for imaging territories. Since the 19th century, these calls for participation have mobilised “amateurs” whose category, far from being homogeneous, includes professionals working independently, members of photo clubs, and occasional practitioners. By orchestrating this diversity of positions and skills, the competition does not merely collect images: it helps to bring forth representations of territories, at the intersection of political perspectives and vernacular experience.
