Overview
Ephemeral lighthouse
Originally conceived in 2015 by Shareef Sarhan, Lighthouse was a monumental artwork made from war debris, erected on the port of Gaza. In 2023, an Israeli tank destroyed this symbolic lighthouse.
With Re-Lighthouse, the artist has created a travelling, indestructible artistic gesture carrying hope and resilience: this luminous sculpture now crosses borders to be reborn from city to city—in Gaza, Marseille, Bordeaux, Montpellier, and beyond—shining the light of Gazan memory and peace.
