Mémoire de fille recounts the “first night of love” of 18-year-old Annie D. during the summer of 1958, while she was working as a camp counsellor. 50 years later, having become Annie Ernaux, she revisits this event which she describes as traumatic: the story of a first time marked by the difficulty of saying no, and by the confusion between desire, domination, and self-forgetfulness.
