Imugi ou la légende de l'apprenti dragon

A magical dive into the heart of Korean folklore through a poetic, funny, and touching shadow theatre story. For ages 4 to 99.

The Compagnie Karrak presents an original shadow theatre tale inspired by Korean folklore that will delight both young and old! Deep in the ocean, the Great Dragon King has fallen asleep. His snores were so loud that they hatched a very special egg: that of Imugi, a young apprentice dragon whose only ambition is to become a true dragon! To do this, he must go in search of a celestial sphere and venture into the world of men, where he will meet Hyun-Ae, a little girl who is sometimes too well-behaved, but full of surprises. Together, they will have to confront Lord Tiger, who reigns terror in the mountains, though often to his own detriment. Will they manage to thwart his tricks? Or will they learn that the solution is not always what it seems… Tales have the fantastic quality of transcending cultures. In this play, each character borrows from the Korean universe but resonates with the common European imagination. Here, the different tales borrowed from Korean folklore serve the story, and the story feeds on these tales, in order to transmit universal values from the youngest age. In this case, violence solves nothing, and the act of courage is forgiveness. So come and discover the story of Imugi, and stay at the end to ask your questions and learn more about shadow theatre and how its puppets work! This show is presented as part of the Parisian festival of shows for young audiences, “L’été des p’tits futés”, organised by the Théâtre Darius Milhaud, located next to the Parc de la Villette and the Buttes-Chaumont.
