Abderrahmane Cheref : Vestige échoué, œuf noir témoin des profondeurs

Residency completion exhibition at Les Petites Écuries

Through impressions on clay, burnt wood or cast metal, Abderrahmane Cheref experiments with gestures that evoke the fossilisation of matter. Mermaid's purses punctuate the installation—those black keratin egg cases washed ashore after sheltering skate embryos.

Sometimes imagined in the darkness of the abyss near heat sources, sometimes in shallow, light-drenched depths, they find refuge here near a ceramic basin conducive to the hatching of living things.

The exhibition follows a research residency accompanied by ceramicist Marie Hulbert, a member of the Factotum network.
