During this workshop, several creative writing prompts will be offered to you to explore your memory, nourish your imagination and bring fiction to the surface.

It is often said that the past is a fiction. That we constantly reinvent it, that what we have lived is transformed over time, reshaped by our memory, our unconscious and our emotions. I draw on my memories to write. But rather than seeking to restore them faithfully, I prefer to take hold of them as a living material, in order to go beyond the real and enter into fiction. To extract a memory, move it, distort it, amplify it, change point of view, invent what is missing: to make reality grow until it becomes literature. For writing from one's memory is not only recounting what took place. It is learning to look differently at what we thought we knew, gradually becoming master of one's own story, and discovering in one's memories stories one never suspected.

During this workshop, several creative writing prompts will be offered to you to explore your memory, nourish your imagination and bring fiction to the surface. Each prompt will be an invitation to travel through your memories, to reawaken the sensations of childhood, to play with points of view, voices and perceptions, and to let yourself be surprised by your own words. The aim is not to retrieve exactly what happened, but to see what writing can do with a memory.
