Au coeur de la Provence, collection du Fonds Régional d’Acquisition d’OEuvres Provençales (FRAOP)

The exhibition « Au cœur de la Provence – Collection FRAOP « invites visitors to discover an exceptional ensemble of works from the Fonds régional d’acquisition des œuvres provençales (FRAOP). Established in 1989, this heritage collection brings together 138 paintings produced between 1840 and 1950, offering a remarkable panorama of artistic creation inspired by Provence.

From sunlit landscapes to scenes of everyday life, from Mediterranean shorelines to the villages of the hinterland, the works on show reveal the diversity of the ways in which this land of inspiration has been seen. They bear witness to the evolution of artistic sensibilities while celebrating the lasting presence of a Provence whose beauty, colours and traditions have nourished several generations of painters.

By hosting 59 major works from this collection, the Musée Regards de Provence continues its mission of promoting Provençal artistic heritage and shines a light on a collection rarely presented in its entirety. The works engage in dialogue with the museum’s identity and invite visitors to explore more than a century of creation, between heritage, memory and the renewal of pictorial forms.

Designed to be shared with as many people as possible, the FRAOP collection contributes to the passing on of a shared heritage and to the cultural influence of Provence. « Au cœur de la Provence  » thus offers a sensitive journey through the landscapes, light and stories that shaped the imagination of the artists, offering visitors a rediscovery of Provence through the eyes of those who painted it.
