Automne de la science - Biomimétisme : construire avec la nature

Nature is a source of inspiration. Natasha Heil therefore invites you to reflect on innovative methods for translating the principles of nature and putting them into practice in architectural design.

Biomimicry is not limited to a simple imitation of natural forms or processes: it is an approach of negotiation between humans and their environment, where architecture and urban planning become co-evolving ecosystems.

Unlike a technocentric or classical approach, which draws upon the living world to innovate, Natasha Heil proposes a relational vision: how to build with nature, by integrating its dynamics, constraints and local specificities?

A multi-scale reflection, from the building to the territory, to rethink our built spaces as active partners of the living world. Natasha Heil is an architect and biomimetician, specialising in the integration of living principles into the design of the built environment.

A researcher at the UMR LAVUE LAA CNRS/ENSA Paris La Villette and associated with the Centre for Ecology and Conservation Sciences (CESCO) of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, she explores the links between nature, architecture and territories.

Her work focuses on biomimicry as a practice anchored in reality, where natural phenomena inspire innovative architectural and urban solutions, while integrating the way in which nature, shaped by human activities, interacts with the cultural specificities of each place.

Through a multi-scale approach, from construction detail to urban planning, she offers a reflection on translating the strategies of the living world to rethink our built environments in harmony with local ecosystems.
