Biodivercité. Les animaux de la ville

The newly renovated Musée Zoologique is devoting its first temporary exhibition, ‘BiodiverCité’, to the animals of the city. Conceived as a walk, punctuated by the drawings of natural history illustrator Valentine Plessy, the exhibition explores how urban human and non-human inhabitants might coexist in an age of environmental crises. Is the city an ecosystem like any other?

With nearly 80% of the French population now living in urban areas, cities still often appear in our imaginations as spaces devoid of nature. Yet animal species of every size and origin share our daily lives. By focusing on this everyday biodiversity, the exhibition reaffirms the need to think about the continuity of our relationships with the living world.
