Concert Historia Musica Nantes - Les Ailes du Rêve - Claude Guillon-Verne

A concert to bring Claude Guillon-Verne back to life

A rare work, almost 80 years after its premiere in Nantes

Historia Musica Nantes is organising an exceptional musical event: a performance of the lyric poem Les Ailes du rêve, a major work by the Nantes composer Claude Guillon-Verne, nephew of the famous writer Jules Verne.

Composed in 1937-1938, Les Ailes du rêve, for soloists, choirs and piano, is the last great work by Claude Guillon-Verne, who stopped composing after 1939.

Its premiere in Nantes, originally planned for February 1939, did not finally take place until 12 December 1949. Since then, the work had never been performed again in the composer's home city.

Thanks to the research and promotion carried out by Historia Musica Nantes, this score was heard once more on 12 July 2026, at the chapelle de Prigny, in the commune of Les Moutiers-en-Retz, where it was a great success.

This is therefore a rare opportunity to rediscover this work and to pay tribute to a musician who fully belongs to Nantes's cultural heritage.

A performance carried by voices and music

The lyric poem Les Ailes du rêve will be performed by the Ensemble vocal Les Saltimbanques, conducted by Christel Patey, with a realisation by Bruno Guitteny.

With this initiative, Historia Musica Nantes hopes to bring a little-known chapter of local musical history to the widest possible audience and to contribute to the passing on of this artistic heritage.
