En déséquilibre / في اختلال التوازن - Mohamed Lekleti

The exhibition, the first of this significant monographic scale in France for this Moroccan artist living in Montpellier, will consist of a large site-specific mural drawing and several drawings on paper.

Everything will be connected by drawn or real threads, which will be more or less visible.

It will feature the artist's graphic and iconographic vocabulary: hands, stormy clouds, breaths, hybrid bodies (particularly human/animal), twin bodies, in tension or imbalance, doubled faces, targets, blurred war images, circular machines, numbers, enigmatic mathematical formulas, children, games, as well as migrants or men of power.

While the artist will use only the gallery walls as a support, the installation will give the illusion of floating, as if the drawings were held in weightlessness, in a fragile and precarious balance where neither men nor women, nor animals nor objects will touch the ground.

It is for this reason that the exhibition is titled En déséquilibre / في اختلال التوازن. For Mohamed Lekleti, the celestial world marries the terrestrial world, the eternal and the factual touch each other, the timeless and the instant, the past and the present become one.

En déséquilibre / في اختلال التوازن is part of the 2026 France-Mediterranean Season. It is led in partnership with the National Foundation of Museums of Morocco. It is also part of the 2026 Drawing Season initiated by Paréidolie and the Château de Servières in Marseille.
