An exhibition of photographic portraits of people living with an intellectual developmental disorder confronted early on with the effects of aging and notably with Alzheimer's d
People living with an intellectual developmental disorder are now experiencing aging, and are confronted early on with the effects of aging. In particular, they are exposed to Alzheimer's disease.
They may be affected by the disease themselves (people with Down syndrome have a particularly high prevalence), or they may also face the onset of the disease in one of their loved ones.
This photographic exhibition aims to raise awareness as widely as possible of this issue, which is particularly complex and still poorly documented. People aging with an intellectual developmental disorder, and those who surround them, are presented in their daily lives.
Their photographs and words tell the story of their journeys and experiences. The exhibition will be on view at the Médiathèque Andrée Chedid in Tourcoing from Friday, October 9 to Saturday, November 7, 2026, in partnership with Les Papillons Blancs Roubaix-Tourcoing.
A guided tour is offered on Saturday, November 7 from 3 pm to 4 pm. A creative work carried out with Amandine SANNO, project manager at GCMS Pass'âge, Marion VILLEZ, sociologist at Université Paris-Est Créteil, and Yann WHITEAD, educational manager at IRTS Hauts de France.
