Exposition "Des territoires possibles" - Atelier du Rouget, Simon Teyssou & associés

For twenty years, Atelier du Rouget has been developing an approach at the heart of rural areas and their contrasting realities. Its projects are of multiple types and scales: housing, cultural and sports facilities, public spaces, infrastructure, furniture, etc.

They do not strictly separate architecture, urban planning, and landscape, nor construction issues from social, economic, and territorial challenges.

On the contrary, this cross-scale approach seeks to transcend these divisions to preserve the connections and continuities essential to inhabiting a place.

Over the course of its projects, the Atelier has built a genuine method based on proximity, trust, dialogue, and experimentation, through workshops, residencies, and support initiatives.

The village of Rouget constitutes a true in-situ research laboratory, making it possible to explore the possibilities of rural areas and question the sometimes overly simplistic representations associated with them.

Other villages, market towns, and cities then become, in turn, grounds for research and experimentation.

Three principles emerge from these experiences: attachment, which invites us to preserve and regenerate the connections that make up inhabited environments; the possible, which leaves room for uncertainty and experimentation; and duration, which pays attention to long time scales, maintenance, and transmission.
