Overview

John Howe exhibition - La nature souveraine:

Discover the plant dimension of John Howe's artistic universe. At the heart of this site, where nature seems to surround and protect the ruins, the works engage in dialogue with the landscape and invite you to a sensitive immersion in the medieval imagination. The selection on show brings together works inspired by Le Seigneur des Anneaux, notably the famous Ents, those living trees who defend the forests of Middle-earth, as well as other great tales such as Le Hobbit, Le Roi Arthur or Beowulf. A trail in harmony with the site, where nature, legends and fantastical worlds intermingle.

Exhibition organised as part of the trail "Voyages fantastiques à travers l'art de John Howe".

For more than 4 months, discover John Howe's art through a new trail devised across the region. An internationally renowned artist, John Howe helped shape the visual style of the film trilogies Le Seigneur des Anneaux and Le Hobbit, directed by Peter Jackson, bringing to life the world of J. R. R. Tolkien. Nearly 150 works, spread across four venues – La Baule, Guérande, Herbignac and Batz-sur-Mer – immerse you in a unique journey through legend, fantastical worlds and the medieval imagination.
