Overview
An exhibition on the first-floor terrace of the Eiffel Tower Marking 140 years of the Statue of Liberty
From 12 October to 12 November 2026, the Eiffel Tower is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to the Statue of Liberty to mark the 140th anniversary of its inauguration.
Created in partnership with the MuAM – Musée des Arts et Métiers and installed on the first-floor terrace, the exhibition invites visitors to (re)discover one of the most famous monuments in the world and, in particular, the decisive role played by Gustave Eiffel in its construction.
Often overlooked, the story of the Statue of Liberty begins in Paris, where the architect Auguste Bartholdi imagines its monumental silhouette.
Gustave Eiffel, for his part, designed the ingenious metal structure that still allows it to withstand the winds of New York Harbor today.
Gifted by France to the United States and inaugurated in the port of New York in 1886, the Statue of Liberty has become, over time, a universal symbol of liberty and hope.
A chronological route to discover the story of Lady Liberty: across twelve illustrated panels, the exhibition, produced with the support of Lagardère x Arteum, the Eiffel Tower’s retail concessionaire, traces the birth of this extraordinary project, its construction, its voyage to America and the exceptional legacy it has left in history, art and the collective imagination.
Visitors will in particular be able to see plans and documents relating to Gustave Eiffel’s work, illustrations tracing the different stages of the statue’s construction in Paris, as well as content devoted to its crossing to New York.
The exhibition also spotlights its many replicas around the world and the major influence it still exerts today.
