Exposition - Nos vies entrelactées

The exhibition "Nos vies entrelactées" uses imagery to celebrate and support breastfeeding, playing on the double meaning of the French word "cliché".

La Leche League is an international, national and local association that supports all breastfeeding and parenting journeys. The association invites you to come and discover its exhibition "Nos vies entrelactées" at the Maison des associations in Lille.

The "Nos vies entrelactées" exhibition uses imagery to celebrate and support breastfeeding, playing on the double meaning of the French word "cliché" (meaning both a snapshot/photograph and a stereotype).

This participatory project aims to raise public awareness, support mothers in their breastfeeding journey and encourage the ecological transition through photographs of breastfeeding families in their everyday environment, as family units and in the public space.

In 2025, 24 families from the Nord and Pas-de-Calais departments (out of 37 applicants) were photographed. Mutual aid between families regarding breastfeeding and parenting, championed by La Leche League, provided the fertile ground for this photographic project.

It highlights families that the association meets every week or who follow it on social media. Some of the images, many of which were taken in Lille, may amuse or surprise. All of them bear witness to the diversity of breastfeeding experiences.

The youngest baby photographed is two months old, and the oldest child is four and a half years old. They illustrate the fact that breastfeeding is compatible with social life, including in collective spaces: shopping, travelling, strolling, living and laughing!
