Exposition octobre rose - Peace Sein love

There are still a large number of women who do not take part in the organised breast cancer screening programme.

Opening event and meet-the-artist on Friday 16 October at 6 pm With photographer Stéphane Giner and CRCDC-OC There are still a large number of women who do not take part in the organised breast cancer screening programme. They do not know, they do not dare.

Yet this screening concerns all women aged 50 to 74 in Haute-Garonne and everywhere else in France. They are invited to take part from the age of 50.

Stéphane Giner's exhibition, specially thought out and designed several years ago as part of Pink October, is a way of demystifying the mammography examination, of looking at this exam differently.

It illustrates the importance for women of having a breast cancer screening every two years. The artist used the same tools as radiologists to X-ray everyday objects.

The women who did us the honour of getting involved in this campaign by taking part in the photo shoot are holding these X-rays in front of their chests. Through these montages, Stéphane Giner plays the card of curiosity, the search for knowledge, the search for 'knowing'.

The question of knowing how this or that object is constructed, how it appears under the light of an X-ray, is here placed in parallel with the interest of knowing whether a malignant process, which can and must be stopped quickly, is developing in the breast.

Curiosity is no longer a 'naughty flaw' here, but rather saves lives.
