(extra)ordinaires Nos Collections ?

What do all these objects have in common? Their puzzling appearance! Yet, from the late eighteenth to the early twentieth century, their functions were perfectly well understood. With this exhibition, we wish to bring them to your attention as a statement of the singularity of many museum collections.

Although they are labelled, we have included riddles that invite you to ask yourself, "what on earth was this one used for?" and "how did it work?" For the most part, the items on display come from donations made by residents of the Comminges and surrounding area over the past fifty years. They are all testimonies to the customs and traditions of the region, and together they offer a reflection of the 3,300 items that make up the eclectic collections of the Saint-Gaudens museum. This year's exhibition aims to showcase, through a redesigned, colourful and lively route, our (extra)ordinary collections.

Various themes have been devised to present these (extra)ordinary witnesses to everyday life belonging to the past.
