This is Chantenay's very first comic book festival!

The Bas Chantenay Comic Book Festival was born out of a bar chat between three mates: Éric Sagot, a comic book author from Chantenay; Quentin Vigneau, manager of the Chantiers de l'Esclain; and Fred Leménager, president of the Chantenay Village association.

« We are used to organising various cultural events with the association, such as the « Rencard du Boul'vard  », a festival blending concerts, street theatre, a makers' market, performances, and year-round gigs with the Dahu and ETR.

And then Éric drops, « how about we organise a comic book festival? I've got loads of contacts in the industry  ». We looked at each other and said, « Deal!  ». And off we went. Eric called up his author friends who immediately jumped at the chance.

Quentin offered to host everyone on his barge (the Saint Christophe). Fred offered to provide the association's technical and human resources for organising the event.

It felt like just a comic book festival wouldn't be quite enough, so it was decided to add a concert, just to end the evening on a festive note. This event brings together some of the biggest names in comics, and that's where the adventure gets really exciting.

Now that it's underway, we look at each other across the bar and say: WOW!

» On the programme: The festival will take place on Saturday 10 October on a dry-docked barge, the Saint Christophe, at the Docks de Chantenay along the banks of the Loire, at the foot of the black crane, right on the site of Chantenay's historic former shipyards.

8 comic book authors from various regions of France are invited to meet the public and sign their albums: Frank Margerin (Angoulême Grand Prix winner), Riff Reb's (creator of the festival poster), Edith, Éric Ivars, Céline Bailleux, Jean-Christophe Nègre, Fred Sochard, and Éric Sagot.
