Overview

Retrospective exhibition organised for the 6th edition of the Gribouillis festival!

Quebec author Michel Rabagliati tells his life story in the form of autofiction in the comic book series Paul, published by La Pastèque.

After studying typography and graphic design, he worked in advertising illustration for over 10 years, while spending his weekends working on a first autobiographical graphic novel: Paul à la campagne. It was with this initial life story that the entire universe of Paul took root.

More than 10 titles would follow in the footsteps of his paper alter ego: sometimes as a young scout (Paul a un travail d’été), sometimes by a lake (Paul à la pêche), through family stories (Paul à Québec), travelling (Paul dans le Nord) or at the heart of his solitude as he ages (Paul à la maison).

Through his stories, which are as funny as they are touching, Michel Rabagliati addresses life, family, nature, humour, sadness, but always with tender Quebec expressions and a mischievous, joyful philosophy.

Acclaimed by numerous international awards, including the Audience Award at the Angoulême Festival, Michel Rabagliati had never before been the subject of a major retrospective exhibition.

This wrong will now be righted and the author celebrated for 2 months for the rentrée, on the occasion of the release of his new book Y a d’la joie.
