Masterpieces from the musée d'Archéologie nationale

This exhibition illustrates the meeting of two cultures – Gaulish and Roman – and the birth of a rich and complex society. It retraces the daily life, beliefs and religious practices of the inhabitants of Gaul following the Roman conquest led by Julius Caesar. It also offers a fresh perspective on the birth of "Gallo-Roman" archaeology in the 19th century, driven by Emperor Napoleon III. FREE ADMISSION ON 12-13 AND 14 JUNE This exhibition is the result of a dual partnership: with the Musée de la Romanité, which created the exhibition in Nîmes, and with the musée d’Archéologie nationale, which is responsible for its scientific curation and whose masterpieces are being presented in Toulouse for the very first time. Two free fun activities are offered to families at the start of the exhibition tour:

Saucix chez les Romains (ages 3–6): Saucix the wild boar piglet has decided to leave his forest and become a true Roman! To achieve this, he needs to collect various objects all along his journey through the exhibition. Children are invited to help him.

Investigation booklet (ages 7 and up): children will discover objects that belonged to different people who lived in Roman Gaul. By conducting their investigation throughout the exhibition, they will be able to return the objects to their rightful owners......
