"Swan Lake" is, for many, synonymous with ballet. This romantic tale tells of the young Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the swan princess Odette and wishes to free her from the evil spell cast by the sorcerer Baron von Rothbart, and it is a story about the power of true love. This ballet forms part of the standard repertoire of every major company. The Allegro Moderato of the Swan dances from the second act, in particular, has been parodied countless times and, in Lev Ivanov's choreography, is known as the "Dance of the Four Little Swans" well beyond the ballet-going public.

In short: a brilliant work by a brilliant composer that has drawn audiences for centuries already.
