This romantic tale of the young Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the swan princess Odette and wants to free her from the evil spell cast by the sorcerer Baron von Rothbart, is a story about the power of true love. This ballet is part of the standard repertoire of every major company. The Allegro Moderato of the Swan dances from the second act, in particular, has been parodied countless times and is therefore known as the "dance of the four little swans" well beyond the ballet-going public.
