Les nuages ont aussi des racines

Watercolor exhibition by Sophie Bataille

As a travelling artist, I love making discoveries and I am very attached to encounters. With people, customs, places, but also landscapes, regions, countries, and animals too.

From all these experiences, I propose to give them form through the sensitivity of my drawing and the refined practice of my pictorial techniques. Thus I sketch drawn reportages, travel sketchbooks, I illustrate naturalist drawings.

But above all I share my know-how and my sensitivity through various workshops. In short, I am up for all types of artistic adventures. After studying applied arts, I obtained a degree in interior architecture (DSAA at École Boulle, 2001).

It was therefore naturally that I began my professional career in an architecture firm, in Dublin, Ireland, and then in Bordeaux. Over time, my artistic creativity has been enriched by numerous trips.

My passion for nature and journeys of all kinds has materialized in the form of many, very many travel sketchbooks whose practice has become a philosophy of life.
