Overview
The "Martin Luther King – Right to Freedom" exhibition comes to the Bnu in Strasbourg
La Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire (Bnu) and the Fondation René Cassin – International Institute of Human Rights, in partnership with The King Center (Atlanta) and REAL EXPO (France), are presenting the exhibition "Martin Luther King – Right to Freedom" from 18 September 2026 to 17 January 2027.
An exceptional exhibition shown for the first time in France
Initiated by the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm, the exhibition is curated by Ashley Woods in close collaboration with Bernice A. King, Martin Luther King's daughter and CEO of The King Center, who describes the exhibition as "the most comprehensive ever created about my father".
According to exhibition curator Ashley Woods: "The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the struggle and achievements of Martin Luther King. It also raises questions about our fundamental rights. It seeks to encourage thought, discussion, and action."
An immersive journey into the history and contemporary relevance of human rights
The exhibition plunges visitors into the heart of the 1950s-60s African-American civil rights movement, exploring Martin Luther King's non-violent vision and commitment to equality and social justice through numerous historical documents, photographs, objects, music, television archives, and exclusive interviews.
An interactive feature, "Dream Builder", invites the public to reflect on fundamental rights and engage in thought and action.
With the issues championed by Martin Luther King—particularly his ideal of human rights and social justice for all—being more relevant today than ever before, make sure to visit the Bnu from 18 September to discover the exhibition.
