After a 20-year absence, the legendary math-rock duo Chevreuil returns to the stage alongside Chocolat Bleu Pâle for a unique noise and experimental concert!

CHEVREUIL (Math rock since 1998 | FR, IT) Chevreuil is a French rock duo formed in 1998 by Julien F. and Tony C., three years after they met at the École des beaux-arts de Nantes. From the outset, they approached the idea of a band as a performative installation — an autonomous sculptural device devoted to sound, space and movement, rather than a traditional rock ensemble. Julien and Tony play respectively 'batterie magnétique' and 'guitare magnétique', a proto-semantic formulation of their own, which compares their playing to an instinctive physical phenomenon that naturally exerts attractive or repulsive forces. Their interaction is minimal and charged, founded on reduction, repetition and architectural thinking. Their music works as an assembly of interlocking, superimposed, geometric and structured rhythmic and harmonic blocks.

Refusing a traditional line-up, Chevreuil developed a quadraphonic set-up in which Tony's guitar passes through four amplifiers surrounding Julien's drum kit. This configuration allows them to play anywhere, with only one requirement: an electrical socket. The result is both physical and spatial: a minimalist engine of rhythm and resonance that functions as much as an installation as it does a band.

Between 1998 and 2006, Chevreuil released four albums, an EP and several singles. Their discography includes Sport (2000), Ghetto Blaster (2001), Châteauvallon (2003), Science (EP, 2006) and Capoëira (2006). The last three were recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago. Released on Ruminan Ce (Paris), Sickroom Records (Chicago) and StiffSlack (Nagoya), these records placed Chevreuil within a transatlantic network of artists exploring form and texture rather than genre conventions. After a twenty-year hiatus, Chevreuil returns with Stadium, a double album tinged with esotericism, recorded in France in January 2025 and released on 24 April 2026 on Computer Students™.
