At the start of this season, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire presents Act II of its festival Les Grands classiques and continues its tribute to the prodigious Viennese trinity formed by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. Throughout these concerts, the ONPL musicians open the doors to the salons of the imperial city, a crossroads for the most beautiful encounters between composers and a rich cradle of an eternal musical tradition. Three irresistibly lyrical pieces open this programme conducted by Spanish conductor Roberto Forés Veses: the Overture to Schubert's opera, Fierrabras, and Beethoven's two Romances for violin and orchestra, composed upon his arrival in Vienna. Performed by Amaury Coeytaux, first violin of the famous Modigliani Quartet, these luminous and tender pieces move away from the image of the revolutionary composer's forceful style and reveal the feminine aspect of his genius. An impressive conclusion to an unparalleled symphonic production, Haydn's no less graceful Symphony No. 104 brings the perfection of the classical style to its point of no return.
