A vast documentary project unlike anything in the history of live performance, Radio Live now unfolds across two new chapters, lived and written in Kyiv and Cairo. On stage, testimonies, dialogues, music and images weave together stories running through the question of reconstruction. For more than ten years, Aurélie Charon has pursued a highly distinctive project, sitting between the challenges of documentary theatre and the codes of live radio. Radio Live is both a portrait of generations and a long-running conversation on the questions of commitment and transmission, telling the story of the world through the accounts of young people who live through its most violent upheavals. Each chapter invites two people onto the stage, like so many life journeys unfolding through dialogue, video and music. With Vivantes (presented at Chaillot in April 2024), Nos vies à venir and Réuni.es, the collective opened a new cycle of this fresco. The two chapters of “le jour d’après” form its second phase, nourished both by the bonds woven with those who have taken part for several years and the vitality of new encounters. Over the course of stays in Ukraine and Egypt, each of them exchanges their stories, questioning their parents, their cities, their languages. These filmed moments feed a collective logbook on stage, made of images, drawings, music and words. Every evening, their exchanges are replayed, differently, in the urgency of the present. These new chapters presented at Chaillot address the themes of reconstruction and repair, in a political and voluntarist gesture: to be in motion, in action and in creation in order to envisage a common future.
