A vast documentary project unparalleled in the history of live performance, Radio Live now unfolds in two new chapters, experienced and written in Kyiv and Cairo. On stage, testimonies, dialogues, music, and images weave narratives traversed by the question of reconstruction. For over ten years, Aurélie Charon has been leading a very singular project, situated between the challenges of documentary theatre and the codes of live radio. Radio Live is both a portrait of generations and a long-term conversation around questions of commitment and transmission, telling the story of the world through the narratives of young people experiencing its most violent upheavals. Each chapter invites two people on stage, as so many life journeys unfolding between dialogue, video, and music. With Vivantes (presented at Chaillot in April 2024), Nos vies à venir, and Réuni.es, the collective opened a new cycle of this fresco. The two chapters of “le jour d’après” form the second part, nourished both by the ties forged with those involved for several years and the vibrancy of new encounters. Over the course of stays in Ukraine and Egypt, they exchange their stories, question their parents, their cities, their languages. These filmed moments feed a collective logbook on stage, made of images, drawings, music, and words. Each evening, their exchanges are replayed, differently, in the urgency of the present. These new chapters presented at Chaillot address the themes of reconstruction and repair, in a political and voluntarist gesture: to be in movement, action, and creation to envision a common future.
