Overview
Following Les Souffles, LAC Project returns to the Vivat with Saltation, a new crossing between dance and music.
In Saltation, sounds and bodies become porous, almost tangible and visual materials. The piece draws on geological phenomena and on cymatics, a technique that makes acoustic waves visible and reveals their geometry.
The three performers compose part of the sound world live and handle various objects, such as microphones, which act as extensions of their bodies. The machinery makes rhythms audible, constrains the bodies and offers them a field of experimentation.
As the piece unfolds, the choreographic and sound motifs grow more complex, requiring the performers to work with going beyond themselves. Saltation transports the audience into a world where the senses delightfully blend together.
