Soirée Mime

Under the direction of Florencia Avila, the students present a collective creative work built on devising on stage and the evocative power of the body. Between precision of gesture, stage presence and imagination, this evening invites audiences to discover an art form in which every movement carries meaning

This project highlights the dialogue between voice, text and music, and allows young singers to deepen their work on interpretation, diction and expression, while discovering the diversity and modernity of the English art song.

La Soirée mime is a stage creation project built on devising on the stage floor and the language of the body. Guided by their teacher Florencia Avila, the students explore the expressive possibilities of gesture and develop their stage presence through gaze, silence, movement and stillness.

Heir to a long theatrical tradition, mime underwent a profound revival in the 20th century with artists such as Étienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau. The body then became a true tool of storytelling: without words, gesture can narrate, bring a character to life or transform the space.

Over the course of the creation process, the students experiment with the fundamental principles of mime — posture, gaze, rhythm, precision, stillness and metamorphosis — and learn to compose a scene and give meaning to movement.

The stage becomes a space for experimentation, where the body tells, suggests and conjures up the imagination. This evening invites audiences to discover a collective work in progress, where gesture becomes speech and silence, theatrical material.
