Temporary exhibition
The Musée Départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation in Toulouse is presenting the exhibition "Survivre à Auschwitz" from 3 July to 31 October 2026.
Through the individual journeys of 16 deportees who survived Auschwitz, the exhibition explores the mechanisms of dehumanisation implemented within the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp complex, as well as the physical, psychological and collective survival strategies developed by the inmates.
The exhibition highlights daily life in the camp, the policies of terror and repression, solidarity among prisoners, and the construction of memory from the 1980s onwards.
Around a hundred objects, photographs and archives, some dating back to the early days of 1945, are on display. Mostly previously unseen, these items come from the museum's collections, private lenders and institutions in France and abroad.
A variety of academic and cultural events related to the exhibition will be organised by the museum between July and October 2026. An educational booklet is also available to help younger teenagers discover the exhibition.
