A talk by Philippe Artières, research director at the CNRS
Philippe Artières is a historian of the contemporary period and a specialist in the practices and representations of the written word: scholarly writing, professional writing and life writing.
He has taken a particular interest in penitentiary archives and prisoners' writings, notably in his books Le Livre des vies coupables. Autobiographies de criminels, 1896-1909 (Albin-Michel, 2000) and Un séminariste assassin. L'affaire Bladier, 1905 (CNRS Éditions, 2020).
This talk is part of the Dixit cycle and will take place at the Mairie du 10e arrondissement.
The Comité d'Histoire de la Ville de Paris, the association Histoire et vies du 10 e and the Françoise Sagan media library invite you to a cycle of talks on the theme of detention, intended to complement, enrich and broaden the scope of the exhibition Prisonnières, les dernières années de la prison Saint-Lazare (1919-1932), presented at the media library.
