Wallace Cleaver - Marcel Tour

“Marcel” is an album like an earthquake, an intimate detonation in which Wallace Cleaver expresses the simultaneous blossoming of a musical completion and a personal incompletion.

The artist does not confine himself to a rap influence: already moving within rap across all its sub-genres and rhythms, he also explores the ground of song, pop and spoken word whenever necessity catches up with him.

Wallace Cleaver is accompanied by the music of his PR partner, a pianist whose sounds are by turns floating and airy, but also heavy and brutal when urgency must be expressed.

It is a record run through by the passing of time: the time that gives life, when his niece is born, and the time that fades away, when he says goodbye to his grandfather, finally closing the chapter of mourning begun on Merci.

There is in Marcel a poetic translation of a generational loop: someone leaves, someone arrives, and at the centre stands Wallace, recounting that fragile role of a man growing up between the two. Marcel is the album of blossoming.

The one where Wallace fully asserts himself, where his artistic identity finally appears in its definitive form, the result of a decade of searching, doubt and rebuilding. His pen, his voice, his universe, everything converges.

The music bears witness to his experience in rap, but also to his trials as a man: son, uncle, grandson, friend, artist. © Asterios
