Overview
Israeli jazz author, composer and double bassist born in Jerusalem on 20 April 1970, Avishai Cohen is recognised around the world for his gifts as a composer and instrumentalist.
Avishai Cohen moved to the United States, to New York to be precise, in 1992 in order to meet and challenge other jazz musicians and develop his art.
It was there that he met the legendary Chick Corea, who took him under his wing, had him record, and took him on live performances during world tours with his groups: Origin and Chick Corea New Trio.
Avishai Cohen released a first album, titled " Adama " in 1998 on the Stretch Records label. The record was co-produced by his mentor Chick Corea...
The brilliant and exciting career of Avishai Cohen was launched, and it would allow him to rub shoulders with the greats, such as Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove or even Herbie Hancock!
On record and live, the artist masterfully blends jazz, classical music, world music and Israeli-Latin music.
