Overview
Immerse yourself in the heart of Slavic folklore and discover the story of the famous witch Baba Yaga in this original shadow theatre tale! For ages 5 to 99.
“Do you come here to accomplish a task, or to flee a task?” This is what the witch Baba Yaga asks little Anushka, who has gotten lost in the forest while searching for her little bird. In exchange for her good behaviour, Baba Yaga promises to answer three of her questions: Why does her house have chicken legs? Why does she live all alone in the forest? Where is her little bird?
Baba Yaga is undoubtedly the most famous figure in Slavic folklore, although she is only a secondary character, either helping or hindering the main protagonist. But never the heroine of her own story. Well, this injustice changes today, in this tale! This show is part of our repertoire of world tales in shadow theatre. An invitation to explore the richness of traditional stories and legends that have spanned the ages. Through delicately cut silhouettes projected onto a large screen, each tale comes to life, transporting young and old on imaginary journeys into the heart of various cultures. So come and discover the story of Baba Yaga, and stay at the end to ask your questions and learn more about shadow theatre and how its puppets work!
This show is presented as part of the Parisian festival of shows for young audiences “L’été des p’tits futés” organised by the Théâtre Darius Milhaud, located next to the Parc de la Villette and the Buttes-Chaumont.
