Babylon - En Ciné-Concert

Presented by uGo&Play and the Yellow Socks Orchestra. For the first time in the world, Damien Chazelle's flamboyant epic returns to the bill in a "cine-concert" version in the legendary Grand Rex!

An exceptional evening conducted by Justin Hurwitz himself, the Oscar-winning composer and the director's longtime collaborator.

For more than three hours, Justin Hurwitz will conduct a jazz band on stage that performs the film's original soundtrack live during the screening (VOSTFR), in perfect synchronisation with the images.

Babylon plunges us into 1920s Los Angeles, at the height of the silent era, when the Hollywood studio system was living its wildest days.

Between decadence, excess and unbridled creativity, the film follows the intertwined destinies of several characters played by Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Diego Calva, powerless witnesses to the revolution of talking pictures that will change their lives forever.

Chazelle delivers a monumental and electrifying epic, a true declaration of love to the seventh art and to its capacity for perpetual reinvention. Justin Hurwitz's score forms the vibrant soul of this work.

Blending frenzied jazz, majestic orchestrations and syncopated rhythms inspired by the roaring Twenties, the sought-after composer (La La Land, First Man) delivers here one of his most ambitious and vertiginous creations.

His music follows the visual frenzy of Chazelle, moving from the unbridled euphoria of Hollywood parties to the intimate drama of characters consumed by their dreams.
