Biben

Cie Hors Série

Literally “doors” in Arabic, “Biben” refers to the boundaries between the intimate and the outside world, which we sometimes open to welcome, and sometimes close to withdraw and reassure ourselves. They become spaces of joy and tenderness, but also of confrontation for those who pass through them. Once closed, interiors can become impenetrable and transform into places of real danger. Through this duo, Hamid Ben Mahi explores the perversity of certain romantic relationships. On stage, the bodies of Elsa Morineaux and Frédéric Faula tell the story of a couple torn between passion and pain, tenderness and brutality. A choreography unfolds where gestures become mirrors of what happens behind closed doors: control, domination, imposed silence, the fear that settles in and destroys. A story of bonds turned into chains from which it is difficult to escape.

How to break free from these relentless cycles, breaking new lives every day? How to cross the door of confinement to regain freedom?

Biben is a dive into the shadow of domestic violence. It is also a way to open another path where freedom and attachment combine in poetry.
