Bibliothèque Humaine

Discover the Human Library, a participatory experience in which the books are people and the stories come alive, presented at L'Antidote.

The Human Library is an original concept that invites the audience to "borrow" rather unusual "books": human beings. Each "book" is a volunteer, ready to share their story, experience or view of the world during a direct and privileged exchange with a "reader".

Far from a conventional stage performance, it is an intimate encounter, a wide-ranging conversation in which each person is invited to listen and to ask questions. The "reader" chooses a "book" from a selection of "titles" representing a variety of themes or life journeys. The experience usually lasts around twenty minutes, the time for an authentic dialogue.

This unique format encourages exchange, mutual understanding and the breaking down of prejudice. L'Antidote, known for its friendly atmosphere and its openness to innovative artistic forms, offers an ideal setting for this initiative, which places the human being and sharing at the heart of the cultural experience. It is an offer for those who want to experience live performance differently, through encounter and dialogue.
