Overview
Performance: Clément Viktorovitch Writing: Ferdinand Barbet and Clément Viktorovitch Direction and Set Design: Ferdinand Barbet Running time: 1h15 Following on from his book Le Pouvoir Rhétorique, Clément Viktorovitch, a doctor of political science who is committed to popularising politics on France Info, Clique and Quotidien, appears on stage for the first time in a darkly satirical play.
He plays the communications adviser to the President of the Republic who, after being abruptly ousted, seeks revenge. His weapon? A lecture in which he decides to reveal all the secrets they used to win power...
Through this first solo show, Clément Viktorovitch does more than pass on tools for decoding discourse: he questions the very place of rhetoric in our political life.
When words are emptied of their content, when communication boils down to an art of not saying anything, how can one still form an opinion? Is it still possible to debate? And what if what we have lost along the way was simply... the very meaning of democracy?
Production: Gilles Mattana/Agoram Productions and l'Académie Rhétorique.
