Overview
A rebellious teenager in 1980s Tokyo, DJ Krush discovered his calling upon coming across the film Wild Style. The shock was immediate: he plunged into hip-hop culture.
First active alongside breakdance crews, he founded the Krush Posse in 1987 before launching his solo career in 1992, quickly drawing attention as the first DJ to use turntables as a live instrument.
Influenced by artists such as Miles Davis and James Brown, he developed a style blending hip-hop, jazz and soul.
Following KRUSH, his debut album released in 1994, he joined the label Mo'Wax "Strictly Turntablized" and gradually established himself as a major figure of experimental hip-hop.
Numerous collaborations, collective projects and soundtracks have since marked a career defined by constant sonic exploration, through to recent albums such as Butterfly Effect (2015).
In 2024, his album -Saisei- marks a new chapter, his first independent release four years after Trickster. The meaning is layered: playing music, reconstruction to bring something back to life, renaissance to revive art. Always in search of a new sound that goes beyond boundaries.
The artist will present his new album, due out in summer 2026, at La Machine du Moulin Rouge!!!
