DJ Krush + Guest

Restless adolescent in 1980s Tokyo, DJ Krush discovers his calling after seeing Wild Style. The shock is immediate: he immerses himself in hip-hop culture.

First active alongside breakdance groups, he founded the Krush Posse in 1987 before launching his solo career in 1992 and quickly attracts attention to the public by being the first DJ to use turntables as a live instrument.

Influenced by artists such as Miles Davis and James Brown, he develops a style blending hip-hop, jazz and soul.

Following KRUSH, his debut album released in 1994, he joined the Mo'Wax label Strictly Turntablized and gradually established himself as a major figure in experimental hip-hop.

Several collaborations, collective projects and soundtracks later mark a journey characterized by constant sonic exploration until recent albums like Butterfly Effect (2015). In 2024 his album -Saisei- marks a new chapter, his first independent release four years after Trickster.

The meanings there are plural: Playing music, Reconstruction to make something be reborn, Renaissance to make art come alive again. Always seeking a new sound that transcends boundaries.
