Être Vivant

At daybreak, a nomadic cabin arrived on the theatre stage. Loosely inspired by Miyazaki's « Howl's Moving Castle  » (Le Château ambulant), this peculiar house that seems to animate itself is home to Fourmi and her travelling bird friends. Hens (real ones), each with its own personality, make their entrance. Fourmi, a clown, is there to accompany them and make sure everything goes smoothly so that they can meet the audience and deliver their message.

They have something essential to share, and Fourmi is convinced of it. She does not know how it will manifest, nor at what moment. But what is certain is that it will happen any moment now. Fourmi maintains a sensitive, constant connection with them. The attention that living beings demand in front of an audience is a true balancing act…

She then naturally finds spaces for speech to tell us her story and to share with the hens moments of everyday life and play. She talks with them and gives them the floor, to question our world while also questioning theirs and the way we look at them.

Amid the hens' voices opens an intriguing, little-known soundscape that also lets us discover their oddities and their ancestral origins…

Quite the opposite of conventional training, adapting to their rhythms and desires, the clown gives these farmyard animals, too often poorly regarded, a place in their own right.

The poetic unpredictability of the hens is astonishing. "Living" flourishes on stage, with all its clumsiness, imperfections and unknowns, which call forth laughter and the singing of childhood.

Alongside them, Fourmi carries the word: she bridges the human world and the animal world, the stage and the audience. Through her sensitivity, she bears witness to this bond of affection, and to their respective paths that cross and echo the world today.
