Overview

Manouche jazz — The Gastine Brothers and Gael Rouilhac pay tribute to Django Reinhardt with dazzling virtuosity, celebrating the spirit of Manouche jazz on stage.

David Gastine discovered Django Reinhardt's music at the end of the 90s, which would constitute a decisive step in his orientation towards accompaniment guitar.

In 2008, David joined the Selmer #607 project which allowed him to stand out among the tenors of the young generation of Manouche jazz as an accompanist and singer. He then participated in Tony Gatlif's "Djangodrom" project, which marked the centennial of Django Reinhardt's birth.

His meeting with guitarist Stéphane Wrembel led him to the most prestigious New York stages (Carnegie Hall in 2017 and Town Hall in 2019, as part of the Django à Gogo festival), alongside leaders of the Manouche style, such as Stochelo Rosenberg.

Gaël Rouilhac is a French musician, born in 1982. An eclectic guitarist with diverse influences, his field of preference is jazz and improvisation. A composer, mainly for his "Waterworks" project, he also works on occasional commissions (TV movies, radio…).

Also a singer, he regularly performs as a leader vocally. Line-up: Gael Rouilhac: guitar; David Gastine: guitar; Sébastien Gastine: double bass 38Riv Jazz Club is an intimate venue in the heart of the Marais (38 rue de Rivoli, Paris 4th), dedicated to jazz and improvised music.
